Generalities

Becoming instructor is above all to be able to communicate its passion for the flight.
It requires aptitudes as regards as communication and, like everything else, you will get to master it if you are convinced to make the good choice.

There are four classes of instructors:

  • Class 4, beginner instructor under the supervision of a class 2 or 1, and learns his new job from his supervisor's advices
  • Class 3, he is, so to speak, autonomous and the supervision is not required anymore although it's sometimes necessary
  • Class 2, he can become chief instructor and supervise class 4. He can also do the pre-flight test for all private and professional pilots
  • Class 1, he can train new instructors and has all class 2 privileges

Requirements

  • Need a valid pilot professional licence
  • Follow a ground school based on pedagogy and deepening of aeronautical general knowledge (minimum 40h)
  • A 100 question exam (AIRAF) with a passing mark of 70%
  • 30h of flight formation with a class 1 instructor, based on flight techniques and pedagogy
  • A flight test with an inspector of Transport Canada
